	Lifelong Learning The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences encourages alumni to continue learning. Read about courses for non-degree students and find out what previous grads are up to at the college website.
	Young Musicians Concert Contest Young classical musicians in area elementary and high schools are invited to enter the third annual Young Musicians Concert Contest sponsored by WUIS radio. Visit the website for more information.
	Outstanding Thesis Award A UIS graduate who earned his Master's degree in English last May, has been awarded the 2005-2006 Outstanding Master's Thesis Award. November 2006
	The Crisis of Wrongful Conviction The UIS Downstate Illinois Innocence Project will host a presentation by Peter Neufeld, co-founder of the National Innocence Project on Tuesday, November 28th in Brookens Auditorium. 	UIS Archives receives James Jones letters The Archives and Special Collections unit of Brookens Library at UIS has received a collection of letters written by Illinois-born novelist James Jones, author of the bestselling 1951 novel From Here to Eternity. October 2006
	Greek Mythology Firsthand UIS will offer a 16-day experience in Greece for students who enroll in Greek Mythology (English 359) during the 2007 summer semester. Read more on the press release website.
	Lincoln Legacy Lecture Series Noted authors Dr. Mark A. Noll and Dr. Ronald C. White, Jr. will be the speakers at this year's Lincoln Legacy Lecture Series. The theme is Lincoln and America's Faith. See the website for more information.
	UIS Presents Robert Bly and David Brooks Listen to lectures by poet and storyteller Robert Bly and New York Times op-ed columnist David Brooks. Find the podcast on the MediaQuad website.
	New Student Affairs Website The New Student Affairs website includes a personal greeting by Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Christopher Miller. Check it out on the student affairs site.

September 2006
	Highest Enrollment Ever For the fall semester, UIS set a new record for student enrollment. Numbers of freshmen, online and international students helped boost the total number of students. Read more at the press release website.
