Under the Dome

The University of Illinois Springfield welcomes the next generation of change leaders to the Illinois Statehouse!

Under the Dome is the state’s premier immersion event for high school students interested in government, politics, and public service.

Students and teachers spend the day behind the scenes at the Illinois Statehouse on one of the busiest days of the legislative session. They talk with lawmakers and lobbyists, analysts and journalists, and see up close how policy is made in Illinois.

2012 Schedule

FREE: No cost to Illinois high schools and students other than transportation to and from the Statehouse. Lunch, beverage and snacks, and giveaways provided.

To reserve space for your high school students:

Enrollment is limited to 60 students in order to provide the in-depth experience we envision. We hope this experience will inspire them to choose one of the hundreds of careers considered The People’s Work.

  • Send email to Michelle Green at mgree1@uis.edu to reserve space for your school. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
