The University of Illinois Springfield welcomes the next generation of change leaders to the Illinois Statehouse!
Under the Dome is the state’s premier immersion event for high school juniors interested in government, politics, and public service.
Students and teachers spend the day behind the scenes at the Illinois Statehouse on one of the busiest days of the legislative session. They talk with lawmakers and lobbyists, analysts and journalists, and see up close how policy is made in Illinois.
FREE: No cost to Illinois high schools and students other than transportation to and from the Statehouse. Lunch, beverage and snacks, and giveaways provided.
Enrollment is limited to 40 students in order to provide the in-depth experience we envision. We also limit enrollment to high school juniors because they are still considering various career paths. We hope this experience will inspire them to choose one of the hundreds of careers considered The People’s Work.
Each school may reserve four (4) spaces at the event for their students and may bring up to 2 teachers, drivers, or chaperones, for a total of six people from each school.

Chancellor Richard Ringeisen welcomes you to the campus of the University of Illinois Springfield!
