Our colleagues in Urbana have created some easy-to-use tools for UI department web developers. Included are a calendar tool, a survey tool, and a form tool. They also have a discussion board and an eNewsletter, and more tools are on the way. These tools make it easy for you to accomplish your goals via the web without needing to hire an experienced web developer.
All UIS faculty and staff may take advantage of these tools. Once a calendar, survey, form, etc. is set up, you may assign a UIS student to maintain the material.
CAUTION: If students develop a tool for your department, be sure that a full-time member of your department is assigned"privileges" to access the tools. Otherwise, when students graduate, no one in the department will be able to access the tool.
The UIUC Web Toolbox is available to UIS faculty, staff, and students.
However, UIUC is unable to provide direct technical support for UIS.

Do you frequently have news and timely information to make available to your constituents? RSS feeds allow you to "push" your content out to the world. Users can subscribe to your feed using their own browsers or software, or you can embed an RSS feed into a Web page.

A hip new way to communicate with the world is through Podcasting. Podcasts can include audio, video, still images, or a combination of all three. You can use podcasts to record interviews with professors, information about your program or service - the possibilities are endless.
