What's New at Web Services
Thank
you for reading our newsletter
We’ve
come a long way since the first UIS home page (see image
at right). In 1997, fewer than 50 pages made up the UIS
website. Today, there are over 100,000 files on the primary website
alone.
Helping
all of the faculty, staff and students who participate in creating
our website is a task that grows each day. We want to do our
best to serve the campus, handling requests in a timely manner
while continuing to innovate.
New
procedure will help us provide better service to you
To
help us acommodate your web and multimedia requests, we’ve
created a short
web-based form. We’d
appreciate your using this form beginning on Monday,
January 5 for all your requests. It will allow us to
complete requests in the order received and provide the best
possible service to you regarding new websites, changes to existing
websites, or help with multimedia production.
Be
sure to bookmark the URL of the form so you
can easily access it whenever you need help from Web Services.
Feel free to begin using it now for your requests, and let us
know if there are changes or additions you would like to see.
Thanks
for your help. Together, we’re creating
a campus website that does exactly what it is supposed to do
- represent UIS with “a high quality, marketing and service-oriented
World Wide Web presence.*

Tip
of the Week
Want
to create a new page for your website? The best
way to accomplish this is to make a copy of an existing page.
- In Contribute,
browse to the page that contains the left-side menu you want
your new page to have.
- Click
on the New Page button, or choose File > New.
- In
the New Page Dialog box, select Copy of Current Page.
- Enter
a title for your page, i.e., Course List - Biology. Click OK.
- The
new page opens as a draft in Contribute. Edit the page. (Don't
delete or alter the left-side menu. If you think you need a
change there, contact
Web Services.)
- Choose Publish,
or Send for Review. Be sure to create a short
file name, i.e., courselist.html
