Reception: Friday, March 13th, 4:00-6:00 pm

The University of Illinois Springfield and Artist Student League in conjunction with the Pro-Text Partnership proudly present ‘Pretty Thoughts’, Paintings by Mauricio Ramirez. In Mr. Ramirez work a varying array of techniques are used to combine stylized graffiti letters, nostalgic images from his past, and abstract element’s. The pieces playfully combine different genres and styles achieving compositions that would feel equally as impressive on an alley wall or a passing train as they do on a gallery floor. The body includes paintings in varying sizes from small to very massive, and will include a mural painted on to the gallery wall exclusively for the event.

Ramirez is currently an artist in residence at Lacuna Artist Lofts in Chicago, where he paints with Hebru Brantley’s team and builds interior spaces with Davide Nani. He holds sponsorships from Red Bull and Peroni, and has shown in galleries in Springfield and Chicago. You can also see his work on walls and freights throughout the Midwest, and catch his smooth lines on the exteriors of private jets.

The UIS Student Access Gallery is located on the UIS campus in the Visual Performing Arts Building lobby.
