UIS Visual Arts Gallery
About the Gallery:
Serving the university community, the city of Springfield and the central Illinois region with exhibitions of emerging and established contemporary art, the Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Illinois at Springfield has been a strong component of Springfield community life since 1975.
The Visual Arts Gallery, as a part of the university's broad educational goals, operates under the aegis of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, providing varied exhibitions of art by emerging and established contemporary artists. The exhibitions, activities, written materials and events provided by the gallery afford the citizens of Springfield an opportunity for deeper understanding of visual art.
The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Annu Palakunnathu Matthew
examines living between cultures.
Her work ranges from exploring her experience as a woman growing up in India to the virtual immigrant experience of call center workers in India. The work in this exhibition will focus on the confusion between the Indians from India and America and how commercial films in her homeland reflect and reinforce stereotyped gender roles in Indian culture.
