Almost there!!

I cannot believe how close I am to graduating! This last month of school is so unbelievably insane, I hardly even realize just how quickly I'll be done!

Had a really great public relations class today. We held a trade show, and groups of students made up a product or organization and displayed it for the class. There were some really great ideas and it was a ton of fun!

Only 3 weeks left!

Wow, I can't believe that I am graduating in less than three weeks. These last few weeks will be filled with lots of excitement, but sadness as well. I'm excited to be graduating and entering a new phase of my life and all, but I'm really gonna miss my college days and all the friends I've made.

I should probably update you on how Springfest went. The Old Skool Cappie Crew ended up getting 2nd place by only 3 points! It was a tough battle against PXII, but they ended up prevailing with a victory in the tug-of-war. Now our team gets $200 to eat out at a restaurant of our choice. :-) Overall, a fantastic week filled with tons of great activities!

Springfest continues...

This week has been soo much fun! Springfest is always one of my favorite times of the year, and this year is definitely turning out to be a blast! So far our team has got second at Whose Line?, second at Name that Tune, first in the flag, third in chant, and we think we at least tied for first last night in the scavenger hunt (my favorite event!). We haven't gotten the official results from last night yet, but we think we're either in first or second place overall! :-)

Since I'm participating in all of the events, I haven't been able to take a lot of pictures. However, Brad Ward is doing a great job and you can check out all the Springfest pictures and lots of other stuff here!

Old Skool Cappie Crew

Well, today's title says it all. That is the name of the best Springfest team around! LOL Anyhow, Springfest has officially begun and it's off to a great start. The Blue Crew vs. Faculty & Staff basketball game went very well and was a lot of fun for all. Then the cookout afterwards had a great turnout!

Tonight was the first team event, which was entitled Whose Line Duo, which was an improv event where team members are given a situation and act out a scene. It was absolutely hilarious!

At the end of Day 1, my team is currently one point out of first place! :-)

Springfest!!

Today officially begins one of the best weeks here at UIS, Springfest! It's a great week filled with tons of activities, with many different teams competing in various events all week long. I've been participating since freshmen year, and I've had a blast every single year. Our team actually won my sophomore year, so this year we're trying to get all the same people together to cap off our senior year with another big win!

Everything starts out tonight with a Blue Crew vs. Faculty and Staff basketball game, which I'm playing in. Here is a link to the Student Life calendar so you can check out all the Springfest activities for the week. Click here!

A free day!

Well, today is my first real day off in a very looong time. This semester has just been beyond crazy and hectic, and I'm gonna really enjoy today. Plus it's gorgeous outside!

Softball is going alright. We unfortunately are having a tough time winning a lot of games, but we're always close. This past week we played 15 games, so we are all going to enjoy our day off. Feel free to come on out to our home game tomorrow at noon!

This week was Disability Awareness week here at UIS, and I believe that it was definitely a success. I unfortunately wasn't able to attend the events as we had away games 3 out of the past 4 days, but I've heard many great things. The last event for the week is the wheelchair basketball game tonight, which is always a lot of fun to watch.

Championship game

Well, the amazing Illini season has finally come to and end. I must say, I will never forget this season or this team. I was able to be at the championship game, and it sure was a great one. We sure didn't go down without a fight, just like we did all year. So all I can say is thanks guys, it was one heck of a ride.

Time to move on, I suppose. We have 8 softball games this week, 6 of which are away, so it should be a pretty busy week. Next week is Springfest! I cannot wait!!!

Opening day for the Cardinals today!!! :-)

A great story

I really loved writing my feature story this week. It's about a woman named Kimberly Pate who used to attend UIS. She was in a car accident when she was 18 which left her paralyzed from the shoulders down. What she has accomplished in her life since then--truly amazing. It really was inspiring to hear about all she has done in her life. She is a wonderful woman with a really great story, and I hope you all get a chance to read the feature story.
