Dozens of UIS students organized themselves to take part in the downtown Springfield Holiday Walk on December 11, 2013. This was part of the effort by student leaders this year to make themselves more visible as the UIS student body downtown and around the city.

UIS recognized scholarship donors during the annual Scholarship Luncheon on October 23, 2013. More than 250 people attended; for many of the donors it was their first time meeting the students they support. Related links: More information about scholarships
We’re very pleased that UIS students helped to collect 11,147 pounds of food for the Central Illinois Foodbank on Halloween night this year – and just as grateful that the community responded so well to our students’ Trick or Treating for Canned Goods. Thanks to all.
After three years of planning, petitions, and meetings, UIS students have welcomed a group of Greek sororities and fraternities. Two fraternities are currently on campus: Chapter Upsilon Xi of Alpha Phi Alpha and Chapter Mu Eta of Phi Beta Sigma, with more to come.
Chancellor Koch writes a monthly column for the Springfield newspaper. In December 2012, she wrote about three exceptional international students – one from India, one from China, and one from Turkey. It’s not a recent phenomenon for UIS to be offering more and more opportunities to study abroad. In 2005, the Global Experience Program signed new student exchange agreements with universities in Mexico, Japan, and Australia. Related links: Most recent information about Study Abroad
