Megan Bergerud (basketball) of Virginia and Jared Massengill (baseball) of Neoga have been named the UIS Athletes of the Year. The awards were announced May 10 at the annual Athletics banquet. UIS will hold its 43rd commencement ceremony May 17 in the Prairie Capital Convention Center downtown. Several UIS students were honored for their roles in the annual Model Illinois Government (MIG) simulation at the state capitol on March 2, 2014. The UIS delegation was also honored with the Outstanding Large Delegation award.
More than 500 volunteers gathered in the UIS Recreation and Athletic Center in November 2013 to help assemble Manna Packs for hungry children around the world. It was called the Feed My Starving Children event.
