In my free time, I enjoy practicing karate, volunteering at the Henson Robinson Zoo, and writing.

Hello, my name is Josh. I am I senior biology major with a minor in chemistry here at UIS. I have a great interest in science, particularly in the science of medicine, which is why I aspire to a career in the medical field as a physician assistant. I also love the basic sciences, which is why I am currently involved in basic research in geriatrics at the SIU School of medicine, and also here at UIS with Dr. Vazquez and Dr. Johnson. In my free time I like to play my guitar and sing in a band, ride my bicycle, hang out with my friends, go hiking, and brew beer. Science can be hard, but just like most things in life it just takes time and patients to learn the concepts.

Writing isn’t easy. From developing an idea to doing research to writing a first draft to editing it into a finished essay is a difficult and complex process. I’m a second year graduate student in the Liberal and Integrative Studies program and a journalism school graduate. My experience working with other writers – some new, some not so new – convinces me that writing a college paper doesn’t have to be a dreaded, frustrating chore.
I enjoy the entire writing process, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with you to improve your writing – and maybe make it a little more enjoyable for you, too.
Hey y’all! I am a junior Capital Scholars student majoring in Sociology and Political Science with an interest in educational policy and research methods. I am also a student-athlete and copy editor for The Journal. Education is crucial as publically funded education systems— especially ones that interact with rural identity and agricultural policy— boast intersectionality with the shaping of individuals fit to participate in the American democratic system. You should come hang out with me and we’ll work on your composition skills, seriously!
Hi! My name is Molly, and I am excited to be a part of The Learning Hub team for another school year. I am a graduate student in the Human Developmental Counseling program and work as a mental health professional for my practicum experience. I love to meet new people! I enjoy reading, watching TED talks, fishing, eating yummy foods, having bonfires, traveling, and riding on the back of a Harley.

Hello everyone, I am a TEP student hoping to one day teach high school English. Here at UIS, I am regularly involved in non-sanctioned pickle ball and badminton matches. My hobbies include watching YouTube clips of my idol, comedian Greg Giraldo, pulling weeds from my mother’s flower garden, listening to friends make fun of my van, pretending to be included in the social circles of birds frequenting my feeder, and nightly backgammon matches against my father.
