UIS TheatreVolunteer and Off-Stage Opportunities

UIS Theatre has many ways for you to get involved and join our artistic team.

Current UIS students and anyone else who would like to work as a stage manager, assistant stage manager, props designer or coordinator, costume designer, set construction crew member, running crew member, or in some other capacity for a particular upcoming production, should either show up at the auditions for the production and make their interest known to the director of the production, or contact Eric Thibodeaux-Thompson at ethib1@uis.edu.

Jonathan Reynolds and Bruce T. Schempp work on a set piece for the Spring 2003 production of A LIE OF THE MIND.

Our Student-Run Theatre Organization
In addition to offering opportunities on-stage and backstage during productions, as well as a growing curriculum, the program also works with the student-run UIS Theatre Organization, which offers opportunities for club events in theatre.

This can include, but is not limited to: attending state, regional or national conferences in theatre, attending state, regional, and national auditions for graduate programs in theatre or auditioning for summer professional work in theatre, attending workshops, working with guest theatre artists from across the country, and attending professional theatre productions in St. Louis, Chicago, and other areas.

Wes Allen works with assistant on the Fall 2006 set for ANTON IN SHOW BUSINESS.

UIS Theatre
invites all theatre artists to audition for roles or apply for offstage work in one of our upcoming productions.

Currently enrolled UIS students are given primary consideration in casting roles and backstage assignments, as well as in determining each production’s artistic & design team.

UIS faculty and staff or theatre artists from the community are cast to play particular roles or work particular artistic and technical assignments whenever the need arises.
