Faculty and Staff
Originally from Minneapolis, Eric has directed and acted professionally at many theatres across the country. As an actor, he has worked professionally on stage, in film, television commercials and radio. Professional credits include work at: the Minneapolis Centennial Showboat; Nebraska Rep.; the Shakespeare Festivals of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Illinois; off off Broadway; and upstate New York. Directing credits have taken him to New York City, Atlanta, Charlotte, the mountains of Virginia, Nebraska, Minnesota, and onward. Eric maintains an active membership in the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE)--where he currently serves as Associate Editor of The Player's Journal; the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), and in The Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). Before coming to UIS, Eric taught theatre courses at several institutions including: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Winthrop University; The University of Virginia's College at Wise; Georgia Perimeter College; and Spelman College.
Eric earned an M.F.A. in Acting from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a B.A. in Theatre Arts from The University of Minnesota-Minneapolis.
Missy Thibodeaux-Thompson
Missy Thibodeaux-Thompson holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a BFA in Drama Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and comes to UIS via Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, and New York City, among other cities. Most recently, she has served as a Half-Time Assistant Professor of Theatre at Illinois College, where she taught various theatre courses and directed Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, and Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. While living in New York City, she directed David Mamet’s The Frog Prince, Samuel Beckett’s Footfalls and Catastrophe, and played the title role in See Jane Run, all at The Theatre Studio, Inc. In addition, she played Jacques in an all-female production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, at The Looking Glass Theatre. She was the primary Acting faculty member at UNC-Charlotte for 3 years, and has also taught at Cornell University, Georgia Perimeter College, and LLCC. While in Charlotte she directed Paula Vogel’s The Baltimore Waltz, and Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As an actor, she has also had the privilege to perform various roles with Austin Shakespeare Festival and Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Favorite roles include Nora in A Doll’s House, Paulina in Death and the Maiden, Rosalind in another all-female production of As You Like It, Portia in The Merchant of Venice, Adriana in The Comedy of Errors, Elsa in The Road to Mecca, and Alexandra in On the Verge. In the Fall of 2005, Missy directed and acted in a reading of an original one-act, Degrees of Lucky, by a local playwright, and helped organize a benefit variety show with local theatre artists, musicians, and dancers, called Beacon of Hope, to benefit the American Red Cross and the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Originally from Lake Charles, LA, Missy’s family was affected by both hurricanes, and she felt a strong desire to do something to help. In the Spring of 2006, she directed Diana Son's Stop Kiss for Illinois College. In the Fall of 2006, she directed Jane Martin's Anton in Show Business for UIS Theatre.
