

Teacher Education Program Online Process
Details
1. Gain Admission to the University of Illinois at
Springfield
- Read and Complete
Application from UIS Admissions
- Submit Required Information (Office Transcripts etc.)
- Candidates must also meet general education
requirements to complete certificate
- Candidates cannot transfer credit for TEP 314, TEP
419 or TEP 43X Secondary Methods
- If you already have a bachelor's degree, please
apply as a non-degree seeking undergraduate (you may contact Tyler Tanaka to
get assistance with the application)
2.
Gain Admission to the Teacher Education Program
The following must be completed by the end of
your first year at UIS
- *Complete and Pass Introduction to Education,
Educational Psychology for Teachers and for Secondary Certification Adolescent Development for Teacher (or Adolescence Psychology)*. (These courses may be transferred in if taken within the
last seven years. Or you can complete them by the end of your first semester
in the program.)* TEP has all of these courses available online at UIS.
*Illinois certified teachers may omit these
step but must submit a copy of their teaching certificate.
3. Complete Coursework and Attend Mandatory On Campus
Conferences Twice a Semester
All candidates must complete a minimum of two
courses at UIS in his/her content area (example - Complete two Math courses
or two English courses at UIS).
4. Complete and Pass Illinois State Certification
Content Area and APT Tests
5. Complete and Pass One Semester of Student Teaching
6. Complete and Pass e-Portfolio Exam
