Advising in the Teacher Education Program occurs on four levels.
Before applying to the TEP program, individual potential applicants meet with one of the Initial Program Adviser, Kemy Brown, for an introduction to the TEP program and to have their transcripts analyzed.
After being accepted into the TEP program, candidates are required to attend a group orientation to the program. At this orientation applicants are advised concerning general information common to all candidates, such as

Candidates who are completing bachelor’s degrees will also have faculty advisors in their major areas and should consult with those advisors on matters concerning coursework in the major.
Candidates who already have bachelor’s degrees and are completing the TEP program for certification only may be required to meet with a faculty advisor in a major content area to determine what additional coursework (if any) needs to be taken in order to fulfill Illinois State Board of Education content standards.
