Theresa Sullivan-Stewart

Brief Introduction....

Theresa Sullivan Stewart is an Associate Professor in Teacher Education at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

During her career, she has served in various roles: administrative assistant, adviser, consultant, teacher, supervisor of student teachers, and coordinator of student teaching. She has certification in Secondary Education 6-12, Elementary Education, and Guidance & Counseling.

Her experience includes:

  • teaching- in Australia and the People's Republic of China as well as Illinois,
  • travel- through Australia, China, Europe, India, Japan, Pacific Islands, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka and the United States,
  • consultation- on cessation of cigarette smoking, course design, and support programs for unemployed teens..

Her beliefs about teaching are consistent with the conceptual framework espoused within the Teacher Education Program and appreciation of the value of a good education. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is honored to continue work within the University of Illinois system.
