Initial Advising

Students must have an initial advising session before applying to the teacher education program. This session gives the student an opportunity to discover what is necessary to obtain teacher certification. All students in the teacher education program are required to have initial advising before registering for TEP courses.  In the initial advising session, the program adviser analyzes the student's transcripts to determine what courses are needed for certification. The program adviser will also explain all of the other intricacies in the process of becoming a certified teacher. And, of course, she will answer all of the student's questions.  To make an appointment for initial advising, please phone the adviser at 217/206-6934. Please do not attempt to acquire teacher certification without initial advising.
