Puerto Rican Fair | 8:00pm Location TBD | Sponsored by Alternative Spring Break and Organization for Latin American Students | This event will be a mini fair to get students to learn about Puerto Rican culture, heritage, history, and try some food. They will also gain more information about Alternative Spring Break and the trip this year and the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS). At this event we will have different stations that students can visit to learn about each of these.

TRAC Fitness Group Excercise Demo | 9:00-10:00pm Location TRAC | Sponsored by Campus Recreation | Grab your friends and join Campus Recreation from 9pm-10pm @ TRAC for demonstrations of Group Fitness classes that will be offered this fall!  Come get a taste and learn about Bootcamp, Group Strength, Cycling, Yoga, Zumba, & West Coast Swing.  Fitness classes at UIS are available to all fitness levels as instructors have been trained to provide modifications to every exercise movement

Art Night | 6:00-9:00pm VPA | Sponsored by Art Student League | Art Night is a wonderful opportunity for students and teachers to experience creating in a college art studio setting.  Our guests will create some original art and meet with current UIS Visual Arts students.  Art faculty will be in their studios and classrooms giving demonstrations in which everyone can participate and create their own works in different mediums. Students will be able to tour our Visual Arts facilities including newly renovated classrooms, studios, gallery space, and equipment available to all students.

Grand Army of the Republic Memorial Museum Trip | 10:00-11:30am | Sponsored by History Club | Students will meet in the front of the lower level of UHB on Friday morning at 10:00 AM to check in and get a finalized head count. We will then make our way to the provided transportation and head to the museum (629 South 7th street Springfield, IL 62703) and enjoy a private tour of the museum and a chance to speak with the local member of the National Women’s Relief Corps. The tour and visit should take roughly an hour. Around 11:15 we will head back to UIS and unload in the same spot that we were picked up at in time for a causal lunch in PAC. Lunch, although not officially part of the HC event, is open to any student (from the fieldtrip) wanting to grab a quick bite and get to know each other or answer any questions new students might have.

Inaugural Welcome Week Bike Ride | Meet at TRAC 10am, return est. 1pm | Come join us as we ride from campus to Scheels and back. Meet at TRAC at 10am with your bike, if you have one. If not, Campus Recreation has 10 bikes and helmets* available for students to check out. We will be taking a break at Scheels, so bring some $ for lunch (or some fudge). Click on the following link to register: https://illinois.edu/fb/sec/5934849 *Helmets must be worn by students checking out bikes. Welcome Week Concert | 7pm TRAC Lawn | The Student Activities Committee, Student Life and the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs presents, up and coming Nashville country-rock musicians, Mockingbird Sun, and Ryan Lafferty to perform energetic sets, featuring a modern country sound. Head on out to the TRAC lawn to kick off the new school year with some great music and other UIS students!
