Students invited to Join the UIS Chapter of the National Broadcasting Society UIS students (communication majors or not) who are interested in learning about electronic media including radio and television are invited to join the UIS chapter of the National Broadcasting Society. Membership is open to all UIS students, not just communication majors. An organizational meeting will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 beginning at 4:30 p.m. in UHB-4079. The Alchemist Review Seeks Submissions UIS's annual literary journal, The Alchemist Review, is now accepting submissions of fiction, poetry, prose, artwork and photography. Fiction must be less than 2500 words. Please send submissions nover01s@uis.edu (editor) as Microsoft Word attachments. Submission deadline is November 15th.

SAGE Now Accepting Submissions for the First-Ever UIS Recycled Art Contest!
Win a prize for creating something unique. To celebrate America Recycles Day, November 15, Students Allied for a Greener Earth (SAGE) is sponsoring a recycled art contest! Artwork should be made mainly from recyclable materials (plastic bottles, aluminum cans, paper, cardboard, glass), although decorative materials such as paint can be used. Contest is open to any members of the UIS community. Submission deadline is 10 am Monday, Nov. 13, (earlier entries are appreciated!). When a submission is ready, please email Vera Leopold (vleop2@uis.edu) & drop off in the Student Life Office to be stored. All entries displayed the week of November 13 in the Main Concourse with open voting. The winners for best original artwork will receive great prizes!!
Illinois Cooperative Work Study (ICWS) Placements Now Available
Illinois Cooperative Work Study (ICWS) placements ($9/hr) are now available for Spring 2007. Students can apply by visiting the AST Office with a one-page resume. Applications for ICWS grant placements must be received by November 1, 2006. AST is an off-campus learning experience for undergraduates, providing opportunities for students to learn outside of a classroom environment & get credit for their undergraduate degree.
