The University of Illinois Alumni Association Seeks Student Leadership Award Nominations

The University of Illinois Alumni Association is inviting members of the UIS community to nominate students for an award to recognize outstanding student leaders at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Nominees must be undergraduate, graduate, or professional students who have received their degrees in the summer or fall of 2006, or who are candidates for graduation in May 2007. Nominees should have demonstrated exceptional leadership through their involvement in campus and/or student organizations. Leadership might be exemplified through an officer or chair position OR through outstanding loyalty and commitment by a person whose actions inspire others. The leadership that is being recognized could have spanned an entire academic career or could be more limited in scope. Recipients will be honored by the Alumni Association at a program near graduation. The UIS Chancellor will present the award to these outstanding students. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, January 24, 2007. Nomination forms can be picked up in the Student Life Office. Join in a “Day of Dialogue” on Friday, January 19

Join the UIS campus community in an interactive dialogue session designed to discuss issues of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination among all members of the campus community. The purpose of the dialogue is to create productive communication on controversial topics, allow members of the community to share in a safe environment, and to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. This session will be held on Friday, January 19^th from 1 – 3 p.m. in the Lincoln Residence Hall Great Room. To register, go to www.uis.edu/studentlife. A hat/mitten/scarf drive is being done in conjunction with this event. Please bring these items to the Student Life Office, SAB 20, or bring them to the event on the 19^th. Hope to see you there!!!
