Women's Issues Caucus (WIC)

Domestic Violence Awareness Week - beginning Oct 17th and concluding Oct 19th. All events will be aimed at raising awareness on this very important issue during Domestic Violence Awareness month as well as raising funds for the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence in response to Hurricane Katrina.

Oct 17th, 2005 ---- 11am -----PAC G
Vicki Crompton, co-author of "Saving Beauty from the Beast" will lead our luncheon seminar discussing her experience with loosing her 15 year old daughter to an abusive boyfriend. This is aimed at raising awareness about another side of domestic violence, specifically teen dating violence. Bread Stretchers will be providing lunch. While this event is free and open to the public, donations to the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence are encouraged.

Oct 18th, 2005 -----GIRLS NITE OUT ------LRH Great Room -----Doors open at 4pm
Women's Issues Caucus presents GIRLS NITE OUT brought to you by the Body Shop, Missy Block, private consultant. Our consultant has agreed to donate 10% of her profits from sales to the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. This event is free and open to the public, but rsvp emails are encouraged to nevan01s@uis.edu. Come join us for a spa night for your feet and maybe you will win one of our wonderful door prizes.

Oct 19th, 2005 -----Movie Night - "Once Were Warriors" ----7:30pm ----Brookens Auditorium
Prior to this event we will have a Pay Equity Bake Sale with profits being donated to LCADV. Bake sale items will be available at 6:30 outside the Auditorium
