The Student Life Building is home to many diverse recreational and educational opportunities for students. Please check out some of our amenities and offerings below.
Commuter Student Lounge
Looking for a quiet, comfortable place to study? Check out our new Commuter Student Lounge! This lounge comes with a diverse arrangement of seating and lighting to meet your study needs!
The Student Life building also offers lockers for Commuter Students. You can request a locker here.
Diversity Center
The Diversity Center fosters a supportive environment for students to live, learn and grow as members of the academic community and as individuals. We develop understanding of differences through educational, cultural, and social activities. Student organizations can also rent this space for events. The capacity of the Diversity Center is 50 people.
Gymnasium
One of the most popular spaces for student organizations to host activities. On any given day you may find a dodgeball game, basketball game, dance practice, volleyball game, trivia night, and other activities being held in this space.
LGBTQA Resource Center
This Resource Office provides encouragement and support to our students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning. We especially want to challenge intolerance and promote affirmation so that we can have an even more inclusive campus. For information on the LGBTQA Resource Center check out their website!
Multi-Purpose Room
Our newly renovated Multi-Purpose Room now comes with brand new tiling, an in house projector and screen, and additional space. This area is often used for group activities, arts and crafts, and as a practice space for a variety of activities. The Multi-Purpose Room has a 200 person max capacity.
Stars Lounge
The Stars Lounge strives to create a community at UIS by providing a carefree environment for student socialization on campus. Big screen TV’s, ping pong tables, fooseball, video games, food bar, and more can be found at this dynamic location. The Stars Lounge can be reserved by student organizations and departments and has a capacity of 60 people.
Student Organization Center
The Student Organization Center or SOC is a great place to hang out, play games, work on projects, etc. The SOC has a number of useful tools such as cricut machine, button maker, poster printer, a plethora of arts and craft supplies, and more to help your events or projects succeed.
Women’s Center
The Women’s Center offers information, support, advocacy, referrals, and programming on a variety of gender-related issues.
