Boys and Girls Club - Triple Play Volunteers Needed Kick Off Event - March 29, 2007 3:30pm - 6:30pm Boys and Girls Club Gym 300 South 15th St. Springfield, IL Phone 217-544-0548 Ext 262 Volunteers needed to help set up before hand, man the stations in the gym and serve refreshments With the help of Health Alliance, the Boys and Girls Club of Springfield has created the Triple Play program. This program is designed to challenge youth to become more healthy and active by learning new ways to eat nutritionally, manage stress, maintain physical fitness, and form positive relationships with peers. Triple Play strategies nurture the minds, bodies, and souls of its kids. Triple Play is an ongoing program with unique challenges to the members of the club. This event will be held in the gym where stations will give the kids a taste of the challenges that face them. The stations include jump rope, basketball challenge, invent a sport challenge, get fit challenge, food station and hip hop. The overflow shelter will close at the end of March but the need to assist in feeding the homeless will still exist. Attention Home for Youth AHY serves children age of 9 - 18 in half day and after school programs. Volunteers are needed to assist with tutoring, mentoring, recreation assistants, help with preparing or serving dinner every night. They also need volunteers to help paint, do yard work and other miscellaneous chores. Great for episodic - one time volunteering or sustained service.
