Welcome! The LGBTQ Resource Office serves as a central resource for increasing community awareness and understanding about sexual orientation and gender identity.
Doing research for an SOA or WGS class? Looking for some more information about LGBTQ issues? If so, then come on by the Resource Office! Our growing collection of books, magazines, and e-mail list serves provide a great starting block for your quest of knowledge. And with colorful walls, couches to lie around on, and plenty of music, the LGBTQ Resource Office is also a safe place for LGBTQA students to hang out. Stop by on your way to class and say ‘hey’ or to catch up on the latest edition of the Advocate.
Also, throughout the year the Resource Office provides a number of events for the UIS student body. From National Coming Out Day to Lavender Graduation; our events are a don’t miss.
The LGBTQ Resource Office also works closely with other campus entities to provide students with the most appropriate service.

Human Resources Building (HRB) - Located in the southwest hallway of that building.
Business Services Building (BSB) - Located near the Campus Services Print Shop area.
Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) - Located in the southeast quadrant of that building, near the old Multi-Cultural Affairs offices.
University Hall (UHB) - Located on the first floor, in the Admissions and Records office area
The Recreation and Athletic Center - Located on the first floor, around the corner from the main (TRAC) public restrooms, drinking fountains and vending machines.
Public Affairs Center- Located on the first floor around the corner from the Bursar's Office. (PAC)
Acorn Equality Fund Scholarship – this scholarship is designed to provide academic financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender students or the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender parents. There are two scholarships, on based upon academic performance and need; and the other based upon academics, volunteerism, and advocacy. Scholarships are awarded based upon academic performance and an essay and range from $500 to $2,500. Additional information and applications are available from www.acornequalityfund.com.
