Dear Students:
The Office of the Dean of Students strives to enhance student learning and student achievement by:
Fostering a positive, inclusive campus environment through programs and services which support the needs of a diverse student population;
Providing opportunities for students to engage in experiences that enrich the value of their education;
Assisting students in developing leadership and life skills in order to empower them to advocate for their needs and interests; and,
Creating awareness and promoting understanding in order to educate students about student, community and social issues.
This is accomplished through:
Linking students with campus and community resources;
Collaborating with campus and community entities;
Providing coalition building opportunities for student groups Helping students to build connections and network with university and community members, organizations and agencies;
Mentoring students and facilitating opportunities for students to engage in peer mentoring;
Encouraging students to integrate curricular and co-curricular experiences;
Assisting students in understanding and navigating university policies, procedures and protocols;
Promoting responsibility for life choices and actions;
Advocating for diverse student needs and interests;
Easing transitions for students;
Providing special programs and services to meet the needs of local schools and outside agencies; and,
