Tarah Sweeting-Trotter, Advisor, Coordinator
Tarah is an Illinois native and most recently relocated to Springfield from Jacksonville, Illinois.She earned her B.A. from MacMurray College and her M.A. from UIS. She is currently working towards her Ph.D. in English with a certificate in Women’s Studies at St. Louis University. Tarah has experience in marketing communications, career services, campus activities, residence life, disability support services and first year programs. She has a passion for working to help students realize their full potential and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.
Lesly Schoo, Office Manager
Lesly has been working in higher education for more than 15 years but is relatively new to the UIS family. She believes that the students are the heart of the University. Lesly feels it is our duty as faculty, staff and student workers to help all the UIS students move forward to achieve their educational goals in the most helpful and efficient way possible.
Becca Goldsborough, Graduate Hourly Support Staff
Becca received her BA in Psychology at UIS. She is currently working on her Master’s in Human Development Counseling. She is originally from Meredosia, IL, a small town one hour west of Springfield. She is living in Springfield with her daughter now, and is very excited to be working with the STARS program.
Joseph McGee, Peer Mentor
Joseph McGee is a Sophomore who graduated from Carlyle High School in 2011. He is a double major in Political Science and Business Administration. Joe grew up in Carlyle IL, a country town south of Springfield. His dream since second grade has always been to become a lawyer. Joe plans to attend Howard Law School in Washington D.C. follwing undergrad to obtain his law degree. He then wants to move to China to practice corporate law and gain some international experience. Joe is an enthusiac worker and seeks to help others when in the time of need.
