Sociology/Anthropology provides an in-depth examination of human cultures and societies, and the theories and methods available for their study.

Most SOA courses require students to read original works by scholars, to write extensively, and to demonstrate their knowledge in essay examinations. By holding high expectations for the quality of students’ work and by presenting challenging assignments, the faculty hope to encourage students to work at their highest potential and to help them obtain the best education possible.
The SOA department offers degree programs for both students transferring from other institutions and CAP Scholars students. Sociology minors and Anthropology minors are available to non-SOA majors. The program also encourages its students to see the world through Study Abroad experiences.
