To accomplish a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology degree, all majors must complete the courses and requirements stipulated by both the department and UIS in general. Beyond these requirements, our curriculum has been designed to accommodate students' varying interests with a wide selection of course topics.
The SOA Program also encourages majors to pursue electives outside sociology/anthropology as part of a broad liberal arts education. SOA majors may use general electives as the foundation for a minor in the program their choice.
Finally, applied study term placements allow students to integrate classroom learning and practical field experience, as well as to gain experiences that may be useful in later decisions about employment or continued education.
