The objective of the department of Sociology/Anthropology (SOA) is to provide a broad understanding of the nature and diversity of societies and cultures. The program at UIS particularly emphasizes multiculturalism, taking account of the perspectives and experiences of women, racial and ethnic minorities, and people from other cultures.
