Countries from all over the world were represented at the 32nd Annual International Festival. The Springfield International Folk Dancers performed dances from throughout the history of old America. Performers were dressed in authentic era or cultural clothing for their performances. Members from the African Caribbean Student Organization, as well as other groups, had jewelry and other authentic handcrafted items for sale. Countries from all over the world were represented at the 32nd Annual International Festival.
The Chinese Student Organization wrote names in Chinese characters on papyrus paper. Salsa dancing lessons were offered. The African Caribbean Student Association gave a drum performance. The African Caribbean Student Association gave a drum performance. Troupe Zahava performed a belly dance routine.
This was Group BAMF's final performance ever as a student group. Members from the Indian Student Organization performed in the PAC in front of friends, family, and community members. Over the years, one of the staples of the International Festival is the henna tattoos offered by the Indian Student Organization. Students from the Chinese Student Association and the Japanese Club participated in the Fashion Show. The St. Andrews Society Celtic Dancers held a competition between Norwegian and Scottish dancers. UIS hosted the 32nd annual International Festival on October 25, 2009. The longest running student-led program in the history of the University, the festival features cultural performances and exhibits, plus a variety of ethnic foods.
