First-ever "Under the Dome"
On May 13, 2009, UIS invited select students from area high school students to spend a day at the Illinois State Capitol. The 30 students were given a first-hand look at a day behind the scenes at the Illinois Statehouse on one of the busiest days of the legislative session.

Students learned about career opportunities and the skills and education needed to pursue a career in government or politics from the dozens of UIS alumni and students working in professional positions at the Statehouse. Read more and watch a video.
