Why did you decide to run for SGA?

Employers now are more and more requiring some kind of international experience and/or competency of another language.  The position I hold entails much communication with the Springfield community, faculty, staff, UI Alumni Association, and the legislature (at all levels).   I want to utilize the skills and I experiences I have been fortunate to achieve for the better good of the UIS student body.  If UIS could have more study-abroad program options and flexible time-ranges for students, this would not only be of an individual’s benefit, but would further enhance the visibility of UIS around the globe.

What are your goals for the upcoming year on SGA?

To see SGA work collaboratively with other organizations promoting campus life.  I want a sense of community not only among members of SGA, but with the UIS administration.  If the above is accomplished, without a doubt, we will have a successful year.

What other organizations/activities are you involved with at UIS?

I’m an active member in Model Illinois Government, Model United Nations, College Republicans, Alpha Phi Omega National Service-Learning Fraternity, Catholic Student Organization, Amnesty International, and Christian Student Fellowship.

What is your favorite thing about UIS?

I love the location where UIS is since it is in close proximity to the Illinois state capital city.  UIS is also a very tight-knit and close community which allows me to build rapport with the student, faculty, and staff.

What are your career aspirations?

Upon graduation from UIS, I am interested in attending graduate school for a Master’s Degree in the realm of Public Affairs and Administration.  Service has played a unique role in my life and is a field with no limits or end.  I enjoy the study of international relations and have considered jobs with the U.S. Department of State in the Foreign Service.  It is my dream to someday serve as a member of the U.S. Congress.
