Why did you run for SGA?
I ran for SGA for the exact same reason I have involved myself with other civic organizations- I see potential, growth, and a passion for learning in my constituents. I am privileged to receive a University of Illinois education and want to reciprocate this ‘privilege’ to enhance campus programs that show students they have an essential role in democratic societies.
What are your goals for the upcoming year on SGA?
In this coming year, I plan to be an advocate for the growing programs within the College of Education and Human Services. Did you know that the human services sector is one of the fastest growing in American society?!? As a college, we are stronger than ever and ready to fulfill the University of Illinois Springfield’s mission to educate public servants that exceed status quo.
What other organizations/activities are you involved with at UIS?
NCAA Student-athlete, Pre-Law Society, Project Coordinator for Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach, Executive Council for Queer-Straight Alliance.
What is your favorite thing about UIS?
My favorite part of UIS is the amount of diversity not only integrated, but immensely appreciated within these four walls of corn! Planet Earth is entering a global, flattened society where a Liberal education is no longer beneficial but essential to creating something that will persist. In a discourse of rapid access to knowledge and social media, the University of Illinois Springfield provides students a capacity to become lifelong learners.
What are your career aspirations?
I would love to be a legislative lobbyist or non-profit administrator, but we will see where my ship ends up. I think I will simply be happy to find the extraordinary in my everyday life.
