Lobby Day

Hello UIS Student Organization Leaders!

This is Riley Quinlan and I serve as the Student Government External Vice-President.  I’m writing to you to promote the annual University of Illinois Lobby-Day at the Capitol event on Wednesday, April 9th.  All U-of-I schools will be present along with their student governments and other active students on campus.  This is an event to advocate as students on behalf of the University of Illinois, in which all students will be affected by the outcomes of the state legislature.  ALL STUDENTS are invited and HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to attend and participate; no previous political advocacy work or background in lobbying is necessary.

The day will range from 11:30 AM – 4:30 PM in downtown Springfield.  Professional dress attire is strongly encouraged.  Transportation will be provided to those that don’t have cars and need rides.  For those that need rides, meet at PAC Teardrop at 10:45 AM. After lunch and the group photo at the Capitol, the vans will make a trip back to UIS campus for those who can’t stay the full time. Students that have morning classes and can’t attend the am session can be picked up by the returning van at 1:45 PM at the PAC Teardrop. The event is free and students can register at https://www.cvent.com/events/university-of-illinois-student-advocacy-day-at-the-capitol/registration-ad35229edac54cc1a0bae18aa44ebb62.aspx.

Upon arrival, materials will be provided by the University of Illinois Alumni Association to all students who have registered online.

Now for the reward!  The student organization that brings the largest number of attendees will receive a $250 GIFT-CARD TO BUFFALO WILD WINGS.  Students must check in with me once we’re at the Capitol Complex and I will take a photo of the organization’s attendees.  In addition, students need to indicate which group they’re representing in the online registration.

Thank you all for your service to this campus and the UIS community!  I’m looking forward to this and I hope to see you there!
