Tyler Scherer
candidate for Freshman Student Senator

The main and most important issue for student government to me is keeping the freshman student class, and the student body happy. My main focus will be listening to the freshman class in order to understand and achieve their ideas as to what they believe will make a better school year. One of my main goals is to get some fast food restaurants on campus. I understand that being a freshman I have to prove and work my way up. Knowing this I am willing to work my hardest to try to make this freshman class happy. I know that it might be a challenge because we are underclassmen, but I will try my best to achieve success. I also believe that community service is important, because I am helping the less fortunate. I am a very fortunate kid, and it feels good to help those in need. I would like to get the freshman class involved in helping out our surrounding communities. I find certain community service enjoying and receive a sense of accomplishment and success from donating time. Not only have I volunteered my time, but I have also been involved in student council since 7th grade. Politics has always been a passion of mine.  Above are some of the main goals I would like to achieve in this 2009-2010 year. As freshman senator, I would be ready to tackle any tasks that the 2013 class at UIS deems appropriate and necessary.
