My name is Nathan Bennett and I am running for election for the position of Senator At Large. I am currently a senior in the Visual Arts program. Historically transfer students were the foundation upon which UIS was built. Students could complete their remaining undergraduate course work here after having accomplished lower-level course work at another institution.
In recent years, UIS has grown to accommodate all levels of undergraduate studies. With its admittance of freshmen classes and through the Capital Scholars program, UIS has become a home to a diverse group of students seeking higher education. With this expansion, as with all growth, there are concerns to be attended to. Some issues I hope to address are: credit petitioning, transportation, and 2+2 program assessment. I hope to continue the tradition of excellence that UIS has offered students in the past by my commitment to serving them.
