My name is Justin Doup; I am a recent transfer student at UIS; my major is economics. I am applying for the SGA position: Treasurer. I am applying for this position because I have great heart and devotion to extra-curricular programs in higher learning.
Before I transferred to UIS, I was involved in many programs and positions at my former institution (Prairie State College). I was Senator of SGA, President of SGA, Sports Editor for paper, Cross-Country member (Athlete), Member of the Political Science Club, and member of Phi Theta Kappa (International Honor Society).
In addition, my achievements were making it on the “Phi Theta Kappa All Illinois Academic Team and the NJCAA Sky Way Conference, All Academic Athletic Team” and being nominated for the “Phi Theta Kappa, USA Today, All USA Academic Team.”
Even with all of this involvement, I maintained a good G.P.A., was involved in the community, and worked a job. I participated in many activities such as spending time at my local homeless shelter (PADS). While at PADS, I helped collect coats for the poor, helped collect donations, and delivered meals to those who were not mobile and stranded in their house. Likewise, I participated in other community activities such as being a campaign finance officer for United States Representative Debbie Halvorson (D).
In addition, I was employed, I worked for Moreland International—a defense contractor & coated fabrics’ specialist. Moreland International specialized in the development of flexible containment systems for the Air Force and the Army. My position there was Technical Engineering Consultant (Intern).
After saying what I’ve said, I now would like to thank the UIS SGA for giving me the opportunity to apply for this position.
Best Regards,
Justin Doup
