I am Jaime Casinova, a Communication and Political Science student at UIS.  As a proven and dedicated student leader, such an endeavor should be approached with an enthusiasm and commitment to detail.  It is very important that the service leadership position should not be taken for granted.  As the student trustee at my previous college, I represented over 13,000 students.  I also served as president of my former college’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter and, and Central District Regional Officer for the Illinois region.

                More recently, I have continued my dedication to student advocacy through my work on the Student Government Association as the Senator for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.  In this capacity, I have served proudly and effectively on the R.O.A.D. (diversity) and Governmental Affairs committees, and as a voting member of the Campus Senate.  Additionally, I am grateful to serve on the academic integrity panel, the Communication Department Committee, and in numerous other capacities.  Indeed, I have an invested and demonstrated interest in the preservation and betterment of our beloved university.

                As a proven leader, student concerns are my foremost concern.  I feel confident that I can bring to this office the spirit of positive cooperation that is necessary to accomplish the collective goals of the student body here at UIS.  I thank you for this opportunity to represent you as a representative that will assure that your student government is working for you.  As your SGA Secretary, together we will help develop an increased sense of campus community, and develop our goal of assuring that ours is a campus where everyone can feel welcomed.  On voting day, April 28 & 29th, please go online to help select your campus representatives, and while you’re at it, Vote Smart, Vote Casinova!
