My name is David Ballard and I am running for the office of Treasurer. Over the last year, we have seen many troubles affecting our campus. I believe and so do many other students that we need to change the way things are done. As Treasurer, I will make sure I listen to the needs of the entire student body instead of my own special interests.
In these economic times it has become a challenge for all organizations on campus. We have seen massive budget cuts, students having a harder time paying bills and rising unemployment. This is not the time however to cut back on organizations throughout the campus. I will look through every line of the SGA budget to make sure that nothing being spent is wasteful.
I am currently the Treasurer of the UIS College Democrats. I also serve on the Committee of the Library. If elected I would work together with the SGA to make sure that this campus is fully represented. I am always open to suggestions and guidance from all the students. I am not running to make my resume look better but I am running so that all the students on campus have a voice as to what is going on. We need to think progressively and we can have a thriving campus that has a strong community.
My door will always be open and I hope that we can work together to make this campus a better place for all who will walk on this campus.
