University of Illinois-Springfield has been my home for the past two years. It has provided me with many learning experiences. Our University has shown me the positives to dedication, student action, and diversity. Looking back at my past two years here, I have seen many challenges in our University’s system. Many believe these are flaws but, I see these as opportunities to learn and improve.
I entered UIS in the fall of 2007 as a freshman. Now as a junior, I am a double major in English and Communication with a minor in Secondary Education. I have been active in athletics as a cheerleader and College Republicans as the Recruiting Officer. I have a passion for politics and community. I spend lots of time at TRAC. I work for athletics and teach fitness classes. I am well-rounded and have been involved in many different parts of the University. I believe that this makes me the best candidate for the Senator: Undergrad Student position.
It is important that our student voice is heard. Lately, I have heard many issues we have as a student body. We must act and solve those issues. Every person involved with our University has an important role to play. Administration, faculty, staff and students all must work as one team to make UIS an even better place. Let’s work together in making University of Illinois- Springfield an even more driven, caring, and beautiful institution. Let’s make UIS everyone’s home.
