Singing with the Broadway Stars

Local singers will have the opportunity to perform with Broadway professionals during Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway at Sangamon Auditorium, UIS on Saturday, October 24, at 8 p.m. 

Through an online audition process, up to 10 winners will be selected by a panel of industry experts (including producers, singers, and managers as well as Neil Berg himself).  WICS news Channel 20 will air interviews with the 10 winners, and the public will vote to choose 2 “central Illinois favorites.”  All 10 winners will sing on stage with the Broadway Stars and the 2 favorites will be featured soloists during “Seasons of Love” from RENT.

All audition video submitters will be entitled to a 15% discount on any price level ticket to Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway at Sangamon Auditorium, UIS on Saturday, October 24, 2009, at 8 p.m.  Winners will each receive 2 tickets for their family and friends to see their Broadway debut!

To submit an audition, contestants should upload a 90-to-120-second video clip of themselves singing a Broadway favorite to YouTube, MySpace, or Facebook, and then submit their audition using the online form HERE.

Note: Submitting your video gives Left Field Productions and the participating venues permission to use your video and submission information for promotional purposes.

Timeline:

Sept 25 – all auditions must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. EST, 4 p.m. CST
Oct 2 – winners will be announced
Oct 12-21 – voting period to choose 2 “central Illinois favorites”
Oct 24 – concert at Sangamon Auditorium (5 p.m. rehearsal, 8 p.m. performance)

Audition/Submission Guidelines and Rules:

1. This is an audition, not a contest or sweepstakes.
2. Submission must be 90-120 seconds long and posted to a Myspace, Facebook or YouTube page. The audition must be submitted using the link on this page no later than Friday, September 25, 2009, 5:00 p.m. EST, 4 p.m. CST.
3. Entrants must be at least 14 years of age to submit a video.
4. All audition video entrants will be entitled to a 15% discount on any tickets to the performance of Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway at Sangamon Auditorium, UIS on Saturday, October 24, 2009, 8:00PM.
5. No purchase is necessary. Winner(s) will each receive a pair of complimentary tickets to the show.
6. All winners must arrive at the theater three (3) hours before show time the day of the show, appropriately dressed, and stay for the whole production. The producers of the show reserve the right to exclude anyone who does not meet these criteria.
7. Winner(s) under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.
8. The winners will perform as part of the ensemble in one song during the show.
9. The locally-selected favorites will sing a short solo in at least one song in the show.
10. Winner(s) will be asked to do interviews for local media.
11. All submitted videos will become the property of Left Field Productions and may be used in any appropriate manner to promote the "Singing with the Broadway Stars" platform.  No submissions will be sold.
12. Some guidelines may vary for specific venues.
