For two decades, L.A. Theatre Works has been the foremost radio theater company in the United States featuring a first-rate cast of some of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers, under the producing direction of Susan Albert Loewenberg; starring film actors John Heard (Law & Order, and The Sopranos), John Vickery, Shannon Cochran and Gregory Harrison is a live radio play that takes an inside look at The Washington Post’s decision to publish the top secret study documenting U.S. involvement in Vietnam. This historic trial, arguably the most important Supreme Court case ever on freedom of the press, tested the parameters of the First Amendment, putting the public’s right to know against the government’s desire for secrecy.
