“Goodnight Moon” and “The Runaway Bunny”
Friday, January 30, 2009, 7 p.m.
Sponsors: WICS News Channel 20, 104.5 WFMB and 99.7 KISS FM __________________________________________________________
Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals, while The Runaway Bunny’s pretend tale of leaving home evokes reassuring responses from his loving mum. Both tales feature endearing rabbit characters, and the soothing rhythms of bunny banter and dream-like imagery never fail to infuse young readers with a reassuring sense of security. Mermaid Theatre’s staged adaptation will bring a new sense of appreciation to stories that have delighted several generations.
Family Fun Lobby Activities
In addition to the main event at 7 p.m., families are encouraged to arrive in the lobby as early as 6 p.m. in order to enjoy hands-on, free pre-show activities. This is a regular feature of our Family Series events. For "Goodnight Moon" and "The Runaway Bunny", these activities are already scheduled to include the following:
Moon: UIS kid-friendly Professor John Martin will speak with kids about the moon. He will have maps and pictures to share.
Bunny: Henson-Robinson Zoo will bring bunnies…er, uh…rabbits, I guess that is…so that kids can have a look at the real thing!
Puppets: Kids will have the opportunity to make their own puppets with all kinds of fun craft materials.
