The Classical Theatre Project has turned Mark Twain’s classic novel into a new dramatic play that stays true to Twain’s words, themes, and narrative style. The adult Huck Finn participates in the retelling of this story as a narrator; the adult questioning his past, and the child challenging the adult’s remembrance of what really happened. The production includes the inventive use of set pieces, striking lighting design, and the use of live voices as musical background. Set against the racially charged backdrop of a pre-Civil War American South, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn examines the nature of friendship and freedom in the face of shocking prejudice.
