Purpose:
      The Employee of the Month/Employee of the Year program was begun to recognize those employees who have served UIS in exceptional manner.  The nominee must be a permanent employee who has and continues to show outstanding merit, performs outstanding service through his/her work, and exhibits a positive and supportive attitude. Nominations may be made by faculty, administrators, staff, or students.

Eligibility:
    All employees(faculty, staff, and administrators)who are permanent full-time or permanent part-time employees are eligible for nomination, excluding members of the selection committee and persons who have received the award within the past five years.  Nominees must have been employed by UIS for a minimum of two years.

Criteria for Selection:   (includes on and off-campus examples)
    Among the criteria used to select a winner are  the  following :
            1. Examples of exemplary performance/courtesy.
            2. Examples of warm, considerate feelings of others on campus-faculty, staff, students, visitors.
            3.  Positive recommendation from a supervisor regarding job performance including such factors as promptness,
                 attendance and attitude.
            4.  Examples of how the employee supports the University of Illinois at Springfield in all its activities.

What the Employee of the  Month Receives:
    The Employee of the Month is recognized at a  surprise reception held in his/her  honor. Employees from their department and others who wish to do so donate food.to go with the punch and cake provided by the university. The Employee of the Month receives a certificate of recognition, and a reserved  parking space for a month near their office.He/she also gets to choose one of the following: a $50 gift certificate for the UIS Auditorium ticket office, a $50 meal ticket for the UIS cafeteria, a $50 certificate for Athletic events, or a $50 gift certificate for the UIS bookstore. All the monthly winners are recognized at the  annual Employee of the Year reception. At the event, one person is recognized as the UIS Employee of the Year.  The Employee of the Year receives a check. for $500, a parking decal for one year and a reserved parking space for one year.
