**E-tuition
UIS has implemented a special tuition rate that applies only
to online courses. This rate is termed "electronic tuition,"
or simply "e-tuition." E-tuition is
applied as follows:
(1) All Illinois residents automatically qualify for the e-tuition
rate.
(2) An individual who is not a resident of Illinois, but who has
applied and been admitted to an online degree program at UIS and
who only takes online classes in a given semester, qualifies for
the e-tuition rate.
Non-residents of Illinois who do not meet the criteria itemized
in (2) above are charged out-of-state tuition rates when they enroll
in online courses. For the Summer 2004 semester, the e-tuition
rate is:
Undergraduate (New): $ 133.50 per credit hour
Undergraduate (Continuing): $ 124.25 per credit
hour
Graduate: $ 140.00 per credit hour

MANDATORY STUDENT FEES: are charged to all students, whether
they plan to benefit from the fees or not. Intercollegiate Athletics
Fee funds all intercollegiate athletics programs. Course
fee funds such charges as laboratory, art supplies, and telecourse
access fees. Online Courses are considered to be off campus,
but there is an online course fee and the athletic fee.
STUDENT-TO-STUDENT GRANT: This fee provides financial support
to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate high financial
need. The fee is assessed each term but may be waived if requested.
For Summer 2004 the waiver must be requested between June 7 and
June 11 at the Bursar's Office.
PAYMENT METHODS: You may choose to pay your bill in full
by the due date on your original statement or you will automatically
be placed on the installment plan for tuition, fees and housing.
The installment plan and due dates are listed on the original statement.
If you do not pay the entire balance in full by the due date, you
will be placed on the installment plan for the eligible charges.
The installment plan has a one-time deferment charge of 1.5% on
the amount deferred. These charges are payable in three installments
for the Fall and Spring semesters and two installments for the Summer
semester. An installment payment becomes delinquent on the first
day of the month following the date payment was due.
A delinquent service charge of 1.75% (subject to change) is added
per month to past due charges. The delinquent service charge is
applied to all items charged to the student account that are past
due. At any point in the semester, a student who has a delinquent
account exceeding the dollar limitation may not be permitted to
register for further classes. If you are in debt to the University,
you are not entitled to receive either a diploma or an official
transcript.
Credit and debit card transactions are no longer accepted at the
Bursar's Office. UIS accepts credit and debit cards online at www.uis.edu/studentaccounts
(a 2% convenience fee will be charged for this service). Regardless
of the payment plan selected, financial aid disbursements will be
applied to all allowable charges due from the student, including,
but not limited to, tuition, fees, housing, and any financial aid
advances in the form of a short term loan for the current period
of enrollment. UIS reserves the right to require payment of all
charges at the time they are incurred.
If you are permitted to pay tuition and fees on the installment
plan, or if you make no payment at all and then withdraw from UIS,
you are liable for the full amount of tuition and fees originally
assessed, less applicable credits to the account, according to the
Board of Trustees policy.
Students will be held responsible for paying all attorney's fees
and other reasonable collection costs and charges necessary for
the collection of any tuition, fees, and/or other charges assessed
by the University that are not paid when due.
