MANDATORY STUDENT FEES: are charged to all students enrolled in a class determined as a "main campus" course, whether they plan to benefit from the fee or not. Activity Fee funds student i-card and student activities, i.e., films, art exhibits, dances, and visiting lecturers. Non-instructional Facility Fee funds cafeteria operating costs at the Public Affairs Center. Recreational Facility Fee funds gymnasium maintenance and construction bond payment. Intercollegiate Athletics Fee funds all intercollegiate athletics programs. Course fee funds such charges as laboratory, art supplies, and telecourse access fees. Online Courses are considered to be off campus, but there is an online course fee of $15 per credit hour.

STUDENT-TO-STUDENT GRANT: This fee provides financial support to undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate high financial need. The fee is assessed each term but may be waived if requested. For Summer 2002 the waiver
must be requested between June 3 and June 7 at the bursar's office.

PAYMENT: Tuition and fees are assessed for all students and must be paid in accordance with the following options:

For students who advance register and/or who register the first day of classes, through June 7:
    a. Full payment due by June 28 OR
    b. First installment payment due by June 28.

Beginning June 8 and thereafter:
    a. Students will be billed as payment due as indicated on their billing statement
    b. Students who wish to be placed on the installment plan must call the Accounting Office. The installment plan is not
available to students who register after June 28.

The installment payment plan is available for a $10 service charge. Under the installment plan, fall and spring semester charges are payable in four installments; summer semester charges are payable in two installments. Students can elect the installment payment plan at the time of registration. Students who register late will be billed  for the number of installments due when the first bill is sent. A 1 percent-per-month late charge will be assessed on the overdue balance. UIS accepts credit and debit cards online at www.uis.edu/studentaccounts (a 2 % convenience fee will be charged for this service). Regardless of the payment plan selected, financial aid disbursements will be applied to all allowable charges due from the student, including, but not limited to, tuition, fees, housing, and any financial aid advances in the form of a short term loan for the current period of enrollment. UIS reserves the right to require payment of all charges at the time they are incurred.
If you are permitted to pay tuition and fees on the installment plan, or if you make no payment at all and then withdraw from UIS, you are liable for the full amount of tuition and fees originally assessed, less applicable credits to the account, according to the Board of Trustees policy.
Students will be held responsible for paying all attorney's fees and other reasonable collection costs and charges necessary for the collection of any tuition, fees, and/or other charges assessed by the University that are not paid when due.
