The MPH Professional Option provides an opportunity for individuals with advanced degrees to earn a Master of Public Health degree at UIS. The option requires completion of the 36 credit hours, and includes the internship.

Students in the general MPH take all general core courses (28 credit hours) and 8 hours of electives. Students in the MPH with Environmental Health concentration take the general core course and the environmental health core courses.

Eligibility for the professional option will be considered by the admissions committee on a case-by-case basis, and may include:

  1. Individuals holding medical degrees or doctorates in health-related disciplines,
  2. Individuals currently enrolled in a physician residency-training program, and
  3. Individuals in the process of completing a doctoral-level health-related degree, and who have at least one year of health-related experience.

Interested students must first apply and be admitted to the general MPH or MPH with Environmental Health concentration. Admitted students may then petition for acceptance into the Professional Option.
