The Lee Frost-Kumpf Scholarship was established in memory of the late UIS Political Studies faculty member, Lee Frost-Kumpf. Recipient must be pursuing a master's degree in political studies or public administration.
Dr. Henderson, a distinguished academic and public servant, established the award fund in 1997 after visiting UIS at the invitation of Chancellor Naomi B. Lynn. The award of $2,250 is made annually in consideration of the ideals that Dr. Henderson personifies. They include support of forums to encourage intelligent discourse, support of controversial but important ideas, and concern for methods to improve the analysis and delivery of vital governmental services.
The Maurice W. Scott Scholarship was established by family and friends to honor Maurice’s retirement as Executive Vice President from the Taxpayers' Federation of Illinois after 30 years of service. He also helped in the establishment of the SSU campus.
Presented annually by the Government Finance Officers Association to an outstanding candidate interested in pursuing a career in public pensions, this prestigious scholarship in public financial management was awarded this year to a UIS MPA student and GPSI program participant at the Teachers Retirement System.

The W. William Stevens Jr. Scholarship was established in 1992 in memory of Professor of Teacher Education and Direction of the Graduate Public Service Internship program.
The Truman Scholarship is a $26,000 merit-based grant awarded to undergraduate students who wish financial support to attend graduate or professional school in preparation for careers in government. Candidates must attend an accredited U.S. college or university and be nominated by the institution's Truman Faculty Representative (candidates MAY NOT apply directly), be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals, complete an application and write a policy recommendation, be in the upper quarter of their junior class except for residents of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa or the Northern Marianas who must be in their senior class.
The Foundation seeks candidates who have extensive records of public and community service, are committed to careers in government or elsewhere in public service, and have outstanding leadership potential and communication skills.
