Tosha Cantrell-Bruce has been an assistant professor at the University of Illinois Springfield since 2010, where she leads the Nonprofit Project in the Department of Public Administration. She received her Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Before joining the UIS faculty, Dr. Cantrell-Bruce worked for the University of Illinois Extension for nine years where she authored leadership, local government, and health curriculums, and she administered a county 4-H program. She has worked for Illinois Issues, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Social Security Administration. She also served as a legislative staff intern while pursuing her Master of Public Administration degree at UIS.

Dr. Cantrell-Bruce has published in the Journal of Public Affairs Education, and presented her research on evaluation at the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council, the American Evaluation Association, and Association for Research on Nonprofit and Voluntary Action national conferences. Her most recent report is the statewide Illinois Nonprofit Connect, Communicate, and Collaborate Needs Assessment. In addition to working at UIS, she is an independent consultant and provides evaluation services to nonprofit and state organizations. Her clients have included National Alliance on Mental Illness, Illinois Society of Association Executives, and American Evaluation Association.
