The UIS MPA Program offers a 48-credit-hour concentration in criminal justice, MPA-CRJ. This concentration is designed to provide advanced understanding of policy and research issues in criminal justice and to enhance analytic skills in these areas.
Combined with the administrative focus of the MPA curriculum, the MPA-CRJ is valuable preparation for administrative positions within the criminal justice field. It also enables those who currently carry out administrative responsibilities with the opportunity for substantial professional development. The curriculum provides a core education in public administration with specialized courses in criminal justice that emphasize administrative and policy concerns.
Acceptance to the MPA concentration in criminal justice requires the identical application and admission process as that required for the general MPA Program.
Although applications are submitted to the MPA Program, students interested in the CRJ concentration are encouraged to contact the Criminal Justice Department, PAC 384, phone (217) 206-6301 to speak with a faculty member about the degree and the opportunities it provides.
